Mrs. Massey - Molasses Creams

 

1 ½ cup of softened butter

2 cups of sugar

2 eggs (lightly beaten)

½ cup of light molasses

4 cups of all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons of baking soda

¾ teaspoon of ground ginger

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon of ground cloves

 

Frosting

 

1 ½ of power sugar

3 tablespoons of butter soften

1 tablespoon of vanilla

1-2 tablespoons of milk (play it by ear--thick enough to stay on top of cookie)

 

Mixing

 

In a large mixing bowl cream butter and sugar (mixer- ok)

 

Then add eggs and molasses and mix thoroughly

 

Then mix the dry ingredients together and blend into liquid mix

 

Take mixture and roll into walnut size balls and place on un-greased cookie sheet.

 

     Do Not Flatten the Balls on Cookie Sheet!

 

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until done (centers will be slightly soft)

 

In a mixing bowl beat all the frosting ingredients until creamy then frost the cookies while warm.
